Cypher Foci Groups

Last 3 Edits

Jul 26th, 2016. Added foci from Predation.
June 15th, 2017. Finished 1st run through of assigning to groups.
June 14th, 2017 Page Created. master List copied over to be divied up.

  • Added a list of Groups. May expand as I go through the list and reassign them.
  • Sorted Foci from CS Core Rulebook.

GMs Use of these Lists

Following are lists of Foci divided into groups according to genre, time or specific topic. The actual setting (or recursion) you play in will state which Groups are available. These are not definitive. Many foci assigned to one Group could be adapted for use in another. Without adaptation though, the foci would be rather ineffectual.

When creating a setting/recursion, go through these lists and include the relevant groupings in your setting 'random focus table'. (Don't forget to check the Unique/Other group at the end for any individual foci that may suit).

Players Use of these Lists

Your GM will tell you which Groups are common to the setting/recursion you are playing. There will likely be a table on the Setting page too (including a section to roll a random Focus). You are not restricted to these foci - they are just the most useful and suitable for that setting. If there is a focus not on the lists, it can usually be adapted to work.

Players also remember, if you do not wish to take your Tier ability, there are other options to replace them in the CSRB p91-94.
