Mini-Settings

Spoke about this on Kage site, but how do people feel about me combining all my 'mini-settings' onto 1 website. I am running out of sites and I think they might actually get looked at if I combine them all on 1.

This is not for super settings like Kage, Golarion etc. Just for smaller, regional settings I have created or adapted such as: Elsir Vale, Kodo, Dragon Isles, Summer Isle, etc.

Fully published settings like Deadlands and Dark Sun etc will still have their own sites, just combining the smaller ones I have done a lot of work on.

If I do combine, plz tell me whch of these 3 sites you prefer for me to keep as template: Kodo, Elsir Vale, Summer Isle. Cheers.

I think that's a good idea and you're right, I know I'm not particularly attracted to any of the sites where I'm not playing. Having them all on one site would make it easier and give me more incentive to drop in and take a look at things.

I prefer the Summer Isles template. You know I've always been a fan of the darker shades for websites, just makes it easier to read on the computer.

yea good idea, is pretty much what I have been doing under Shane's Settings where I have the Dragon Age, Vale of Callus (new - to be renamed), MYZ and was going to add the old Vale of Callus and Arkadia

Ahhh. Just spent an hour changing domain names etc for Summer Isle and F'ed up the Home page. Stuffing it up all the time.

I am just going to have to start a whole new site from scratch me thinks. (Then I will delete old ones, hopefully freeing up the number I have).

OK, I have a new site. (In top nav bar… and here).

Obviously I will need a new banner… :) Shane ;) (Might want to see some of the settings I get on there 1st :)). But a basic one - even a modified on the one here as a place holder would be great so it does not read as "Legends of the Sky" for long :)

Looks cool. I am working over there atm and just changed pages and then it popped up. Great. Thanks. Looks much cooler :) (I need to learn how to do banners :)).

Is it my imagination, or is all the text on the new site REALLY big? Not really a problem, certainly makes things easier to read, but did throw me there at first.

I also noticed something there called the 'Notebook'. Is that a new feature of wikidot or something else? Because I don't recall ever seeing it before.

Text does seem larger. :)

And yes, Notebook seems a new feature. Whatever theme I chose it came up. Not sure how to get it onto already existing sites? Or what it does exactly, but seemed cool, as you could do post it notes and stuff. :)

Man, this is taking ages - pictures are the main problem!

Past campaign logs being the worst. I almost did not port them, but maybe, just maybe, a past player will appreciate. (I am not finding all pics for Adventure Logs at this stage, but doing PC pics).

I am also trying to go for a standard layout in the Side Nav bar, that I am going to adopt for all Setting Sites.

And moving towards the top nav bar being for CURRENT CAMPAIGNS only. :)

I think that on the whole this is looking good. Is certainly going to take some time to transfer it all over to new pages but remember you don't have to physically remove the pictures just use the link to where they already are and that should save a bit of time hopefully. Unless you want to physically move them of course :)

I think it's good idea to port the logs, even if it does take time as I know you would hate to lose that info even if no one else is looking at it.

Actually how are you moving things, if you are retyping everything then yes that will take time but if you go to the old page, go to edit it and select all (CTRL+A) and then copy (CTRL+C) all of the page into you should be able to paste (CTRL+V) it all into the new page without to much loss of time I would think.

Probably have to copy them all across as deleting the entire site for the other settings.

Another option to consider would be to have text files saved for each page with the info. Could use that for the editing then and would also be able to use that for editing pages in the future. That's what I was doing when editing the campaign logs for RotR.

I am just cutting and pasting.

It is the pics that take time. Can't use links as practically all are attached pics. I can't 'move' them - can only do that within sites.

Some pics I can't even find again ;) (I just tht I could prob DL from old sites… did not think of that. :( In any case, it is just taking some time).

Current one is coming from Word docs, but I have to search through docs I copied from WotC too to separate my work from Christopher Perkins'.

Anyway, i will get there. Just taking a long time. If I knew people were reading, interested, etc it would feel worth it.
