OK. Seems I deleted thread on this as we had decided on them.

Shane, has a new idea, which I like (but will wait to see here before I post). So, Shane please post discussion of Rules of Ranges here. (Remove from the Ch8 - ADVENTURING section of our Un-Kaged product discussion).

Regarding ranges, I have recently been putting a lot of spells onto character sheets (given our magic heavy campaign at moment) and have noticed that 120 feet is a common range for spells.
However we do not have a range in our range categories for this.

As a suggestion maybe we could add another slot in called long (or medium), give it a new range of 120 feet (or about 40 meters, though it is closer to 35m), amd make the current long very long (or leave as long if using medium).

Which would make the table look like this:

Range

We have moved to standard range categories across all games for ease of use.

Range category	Distance in meters	Distance in feet	Distance in 'squares'/inches minis scale	Other
Close Range	up to about 2 meters	up to about 5 feet.	1 square	(Also referred to as adjacent or immediate)
Near Range	up to about 10 meters	up to about 30 feet	6 squares	(Typical movement rate for many games)
Short Range	up to about 20 meters	up to about 60 feet	12 squares	(A typical double move action or run movement)
Medium Range	up to about 40 meters	up to about 120 feet	24 squares	(A typical long range spell attack)
Long Range	up to about 100 meters	up to about 300 feet	60 squares	(Typical long range weapon attack)
Extreme	up to about 1 kilometer	up to about 3,000 feet	600 squares	(Basically anything beyond Long range, within eyesight, and reasonable distance for the given weapon used)

I wish I had done this earlier. When spending HOURS doing the WEapons Stats lists, it was getting hard to differentiate the many missile weapons, esp for modern/future games.

I think the extra range category works great. BUT… now I will have to go through that whole list again :(

Just adding in a Medium is the way to go :) I was thinking this myself, and I am happy with that. Good idea. (Now for the changes)

Shane, I know we mentioned using feet on the cards, but I think we should use our Universal Ranges listed above. We went with these to be consistent across games.

We probably don't KNOW them b/c we aren't using them. I don't really want to go back to changing all systems to different range systems, especially the WEapons Page.

So, now I have thought about it - can you add our range name to the relevant cards (even if you leave the feet in brackets?

What we REALLY need to do is make this RANGE table transparent. It is not on any actual page. I am rectifying this right now.

EDIT: It is. It is on the Weapon Properties page but doesn't inc the added Medium. I will add, but also put the table on other relevant pages.

Hey Shane, looks like I am running games after school on a Friday.

Going to start this week with a trial of the adventure I wrote.

Would love to use the cards system! Can you please just make sure the latest Word version is up today. I will print that and cut them out for now.

Can't wait to get a proper set of cards to deal out.

Hey Shane, we never discussed what to put on the back, but I was thinking of one of those Black Hill Games logos as the silhouette and then add D&D Inspiration Deck or some such in writing :)

Anyway, I am sure you are all over this. Looking forward to using them :)

Thanks… and I have no idea why the F I posted about putting the Inspiration Cards up on this Range thread. Sorry. Been a bit weary lately. I will delete this post and replies that have nothing to do with range :P
