Well, what a couple of busy nights. I am running a full day session tomorrow at school and decided to go with an old fashioned concept.
Inspired by the A4 Module, In the Dungeons of the Slave Lords, I decided on a dungeon crawl, where the players start with next to nothing and have to escape a crumbling cavern complex.
So. With Angus we randomly determined 8 pictures for the PCs. That was okay, until I realised 4 of them we did not have SW-SIF stats for. Anyway, I got 7 of them done, along with several stat conversions, AND the reason I am posting this, a quick random dungeon generator. I know there are probably others out there. (There was one in the back of the 1E DMG). But I did this myself today.
I may refine it over time - I just needed something to get me through tomorrow.
So the plan is to use a massive sheet of paper and 'map as we go'. I did not want to write up a dungeon like the one in A4, as most of what I write up will never be used. This way I have a random chart of monsters and can place them as needed (with only one lair each).
Another reason for designing this way, was ensure there is a finish! As we near the end I can just map in the final exit cavern and use some of the creatures I have left for a final battle. This way, some feeling of achievement :D.
Anyway - if interested, I have placed a copy of the Random Cavern generator under the GM Tools Page. (For the actual caverns with combats I am going to use a variety of battle maps (inc ones I have drawn for other adventures), tiles or quickly create myself, all at random.
Fingers crossed.
