INDIVIDUAL RACE FEATURES
DHAMPYR (Part Vampire)
Game Statistics & Lore. 5e D&D House (see below).
Further Lore & Roleplaying Ideas. Dhampyr are humanoids with vampire blood present. They could be the offspring of a vampire and mortal humanoid, or may come about through more supernatural means, such as a pregnant person being bitten by a vampire. For lore and options see the 4E D&D article in Dragon Magazine #371.
GAME MECHANICS
Dungeons & Dragons 5E
Dhampyr Traits
- Mixed Heritage: When you select dhampyr, you still choose another race for your original heritage. This race must be a living humanoid and cannot be a plant, elemental or construct-based race. You gain one feature of your choice from your chosen race. This feature cannot be Ability Score Increases.
- Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution and Charisma scores increase by 1. In addition, one ability score mentioned in your race chosen for Mixed Heritage also increases by 1. This may improve Constitution or Charisma to a bonus of 2 if either of these ability scores is chosen.
- Bite. With a bite you can drain blood from a willing creature, or one that is grappled by you, incapacitated, or restrained. Make a melee attack against the target. If you hit, you deal 1 piercing damage. If you maintain the bite attack beyond the first round on a living creature, the damage inflicted becomes necrotic instead of piercing.
- Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern colour in darkness, only shades of grey.
- Unnatural Senses. You have proficiency in the Insight or Perception skill. Dhampyr have superior senses, including smell.
- Vampiric Resistance: You have resistance to necrotic damage.
- Age. Dhampyr age slowly due to their vampire blood. No matter your original heritage, you age as an elf.
- Alignment. Dhampyr may not have an innate tendency toward evil, but many often end up there.
- Size. As determined by your race chosen for Mixed Heritage feature.
- Speed. Base speed is 30 feet.
- Languages. Common and one other language appropriate to the race chosen for your Mixed Heritage feature.
Typical Dhampyr Drawbacks
- Grave-Touched (Minor). This is not common to all dhampyr, but common enough to list here.
- Sunlight Sensitivity (Minor OR Major). Your night sight does not operate well during bright conditions.
- Sustenance Requirement (Minor OR Major). You need blood. You have a craving for it. Only a small amount is required each day (such as half or the blood provided by feasting on a Tiny beast).
- Bonus Proficiencies. For each minor drawback assigned to a dhampyr character, you select one of the following: Acrobatics, Deception, Insight, Intimidation, Perception, Persuasion, Stealth, or Natural Weapons or one relevant language.
Bonus Racial Feats. For each major drawback assigned to a dhampyr, you select one dhampyr racial feat.

SHARDMIND
Game Statistics & Lore. 5E D&D house (see below).
Further Lore & Roleplaying Ideas. Shardminds are psionic creatures formed from physical and psychic crystals. Their description is from the 4E D&D Player's Handbook 3.
GAME MECHANICS
Dungeons & Dragons 5E
Shardmind Traits
- Ability Score Increase. Your Intelligence score increases by 2.
- Expressionless: Those interacting with a shardminds, have disadvantage on Wisdom (Insight) checks. Not having facial expressions makes it hard for others to read you.
- Languages. Common, Deep Speech and 1 other of your choice.
- Living Construct: Shardminds do not need to eat, drink, breathe, or sleep. They never make checks to resist starvation, thirst, or suffocation. They have advantage on saving throws versus poisons and are immune to disease. Medicine checks are made at disadvantage on shardminds, and even when a healing kit is used, a Medicine roll (at disadvantage) must be rolled for the shardmind to stabilise. Someone can alternatively make a repair roll using Intelligence. (Proficiency with mason's or gem cutter's tools can be added) or use the mending cantrip (which functions as spare the dying) on a shardminds.
- Self-Stabilising. You have advantage on all death saving throws.
- Telepathy: Shardminds can communicate telepathically with any creature within 30ft that has a language.
- Unsleeping Watcher: Shardminds do not sleep, but enter a state of inactivity for 4 hours to gain the benefits of a long rest. While in this state, they are fully aware of their surroundings and can make Wisdom (Perception) checks as normal.
- Size. Medium.
- Speed. Base speed is 30 feet.
Shardmind Drawbacks
- Fragile (Minor): Sonic and thunder attacks really rattle your crystaline make-up.
- Moving Crystals (Minor Racial): You have disadvantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. Shardminds are made up of many individual crystals that are in constant movement, and hence, make constant grinding and tinkling sounds. (If 'bought off', this represents a shardmind that has learnt to 'separate' when stealth is needed).
- Socially Inept (Minor). Shardminds do not have expressions and are generally hard for others to relate to.
Bonus Proficiencies. For each minor drawback assigned to a shardmind, you select one of the following: Arcana, Endurance, History, Insight, or Investigation or one relevant language.
Shardmind Subraces
There are no subraces for the generic shardmind race, though for some settings you may wish to create some, such as having different coloured shardmind with their own traits based upon the supposed properties of the relevant gem compositions.
SHARDMIND RACIAL FEATS
Race Feat & Source Shardmind Earth Magic (House, D&D General Feats) This is a general feat, butshardminds can take it as a racial feat. Shardmind Impenetrable Mind (House, D&D Racial Feats)
WARFORGED
Game Statistics & Lore. 5E D&D Eberron Rising from the Last War;
Further Lore & Roleplaying Ideas. Warforged are constructs that have long been associated with the Dungeons & Dragons setting of Eberron. The 3rd edition description could be used, just as easily as the 4th Edition version from the Eberron Player's Guide. In 13th Age they are crafted by dwarves and known as forgeborn or dwarf-forged. On Kage, they are mostly associated with the lands of Shan.
GAME MECHANICS
Dungeons & Dragons 5E
Typical Warforged Drawbacks
- Clumsy (Minor) OR Insensitive (Minor). Being a construct, you may have difficulty relating and being perceptive to other living creatures, or your formidable and rigid bulk may hinder movement.
- Socially Inept (Minor). Warforged do not have expressions and are generally hard for others to relate to.
Bonus Proficiencies. For each minor drawback assigned to warforged, you select one of the following: Athletics, Endurance, Intimidation, any weapon group (Simple weapons, if chosen a second time you get Martial weapons too), any vehicle group, carpenter's tools or smith's tools or one relevant language.
